A selection of illustrations I do on a weekly basis for the Aftenposten culture and politics column På en lørdag (On a saturday) where five different writers in turn write about things they are concerned or enthusiastic about, accompanied by my visual comment or interpretation of the text and topic. I usually generate the idea and drawing of these within one day from morning until delivery within the evening of the same day, having received and read the text the day before. The samples here are a fraction of the over two hundred illustrations I’ve done for this column since 2019.
A selection of illustrations I do on a weekly basis for the column Leve sammen (Living together) by psychologist Frode Thuen, where he answers letters from people having relationship challenges. On print every week in Aftenposten’s friday magazine, A-magasinet, and published for screen in Bergens Tidende and Stavanger Aftenblad. The samples here are a fraction of the over two hundred individual illustrations I’ve done for this column since 2019.
This is a self-initiated project where I combine two of my passions, drawing and reading. An illustrated reading log, archiving my experience with the book and story in the form of a drawing in combination with title, author, year of publication and what edition I’ve read. I publish these on my Instagram, and upon checking them out there you can also read my thoughts about the books and see photos of the editions I’ve read. The project is ongoing through 2024 and is partly funded by Illustrasjonsfondet.
Illustration work I’ve done for the nature hiking journal, Fjell & Vidde, published by Den Norske Turistforening, and recently redesigned by Bielke&Yang.
Identity illustrations for investment firm Øgreid (Stavanger, Norway) as a part of a visual identity created by Studio Oker. Part of the brief for the illustrations were reflecting different aspects of what they invest in, their playfulness, humor and a sense of visual otherness that differs to a degree from a more typical corporate illustration look, and their historic roots as a building company.
Artwork for the 2024 edition of Bergen Art Book Fair, an annual fine press and self publishing festival in Bergen, with workshops, talks, exhibitions, and a market where people from all over the world come to show and sell their publications. As part of their merch collection they invite a new artist every year to make artwork for their festival mug, produced by Figgjo, and sold at Bergen Kunsthall where the fair took place. My concept and design is made specifically for this format, but also to be split up and used as vignettes individually or in different combinations for various printed matter and screen based media.
A collection of work I’ve done for D2, the Dagens Næringsliv friday culture magazine. Topics wary from home safari during the korona pandemic lockdown, anxiety for climate change, women health self-monitoring app technology and a piece about an infamous Norwegian gentlemen club thats not totally in sync with the zeitgeist.
A selection of cover artwork I’ve done for Tidsskrift for Norsk psykologforening (Norwegian journal of psychology) through several years. In this time span I also did monthly interior illustrations on psychology essays about various topics.
These are the seven illustration based posters I did for the art festival, B-open, between 2016–2022. B-open is an annual festival in my home town, Bergen, where local artists open up their studios for the public to visit.
At the start of 2017, Bielke&Yang introduced their editorial redesign identity for a long established journal for architecture in Norway, Arkitektnytt, with me on board as their editorial illustrator on a monthly basis, making the illustrations a vital part of the new visual identity. Here is a selection from over two years worth of work for this journal.
A collection of various editorial illustration for different newspapers, magazines and journals.
